For Charities
Grants for organizations serving the Annapolis Valley
The Physicians Philanthropic Fund directs the proceeds of its biennial gala to charities and community organizations serving the Annapolis Valley. Each gala cycle, our Charitable Allocation Committee selects three to five recipients, and the Board approves the final list.
Funding depends on what each gala raises, and proceeds are distributed among the chosen charities based on need, so individual amounts vary. Recent galas have raised about $27,000 (2022) and more than $40,000 (2024).
Applications are open now through October 3, 2026 (six weeks before the gala). If your organization serves the Valley, we'd welcome your application.

Our Process
A transparent, community-focused review
1. Call for Applications
Each gala cycle we open a public call for applications from organizations across the Annapolis Valley.
2. Review & Evaluate
Our Charitable Allocation Committee weighs each application on community impact, fit with our mission, capacity, financial health, and clarity of purpose.
3. Board Approval
The Committee recommends three to five recipients to the Board, which approves the final list. Members with conflicts of interest recuse themselves.
4. Disbursement
Approved funds are paid directly to recipients within six months of the gala. Recipients are announced at the gala and on this website.
A chosen charity can expect a single payment of the approved amount within six months of the gala, public recognition at the gala and on our website, a chance to briefly present at the gala, and respectful, professional communication throughout.
Applicants are notified of the Board's decision in writing within fourteen days of the gala. The Board's decision is final.
